Job 17:1-16 (ESV)
Key Verse: 17:9
First, those with clean hands will grow stronger (1-9). Job's spirit was broken facing the awaiting grave surrounded by mockers with hostility. In his distress Job cried out to God to come and help him. Job became a byword to everyone whose face spit by everyone. Nevertheless he had faith in God that the righteous will hold to their ways, and those with clean hands will grow stronger.
Second, where then is my hope? (10-16) Job sees no one wise among men. Now his days had passed and his plans were shattered. The grave is waiting for him. Yet he never despairs. The desires of his heart turn night into day; in the face of the darkness light is near. How was it possible? It was because Job had the Lord in his heart, the light in the darkness, the hope in the hopeless situations.
Prayer: Lord, in you we have hope, in Jesus' resurrection.
One Word: Jesus, the hope and the desires of our hearts
Acts 8:26-40
