Job 18:1-21 (ESV)
Key Verse: 18:21
First, Bildad's 2nd speech (1-9). Bildad was angry because Job seemed to regard his friends like stupid cattle. Bildad considered Job as one who tore himself in anger. His indirect rebukes toward Job are: One's lamp and his light are snuffed out because he is wicked. His vigor is weakened and he wanders into a mesh. A trap and a snare seize and hold him fast.
Second, terror and calamity are for the wicked (10-21). Bildad thinks that a trap, terrors and calamity and disaster are ready to fall on the wicked. The wicked becomes sick with no security and dies with no name in the land. The wicked will have no children. Such is the destiny of the wicked, who does not know God. Bildad sounds right. However, he was wrong not knowing the God of hope and mercy, and accusing Job as the wicked, only because Job met horrible situations.
Prayer: Lord, help me to stop judging others by mere appearance. Help me to be quiet and pray for others who are in the midst of calamity.
One Word: Pray with mercy for those who suffer
Acts 8:26-40
