Psalm 19:1-14 (ESV)
Key Verse: 19:7
First, the heavens declare the glory of God (1-6). God's fingerprint is everywhere in creation. The heavens declare his glory; the skies pour forth his speech. Though they do not speak in audible terms, the whole of creation testifies that there is a God who made all of this wonder and beauty. The psalmist compares the sun to a bridegroom who rides from one end of the heavens to the other (6). We cannot deny that God is our wonderful Creator who takes care of us. Let's stop to thank him for his goodness.
Second, the Law of the LORD is perfect (7-14). While the heavens declare God's glory, God also speaks to us through his word. His word is perfect, refreshing and reviving our souls daily. The word of God gives us wisdom, joy and light (7-8). We can understand the purpose of our lives through studying and obeying God's word (8b). Living according to God's word is like having a compass that helps us to steer clear of sin (11). God's word is worth more than all the gold in the world and sweeter than honey (10). Those who meditate deeply on God's words can please God (14).
Prayer: Lord, thank you for your word that refreshes my soul. Help me to live in light of your word daily.
