Daily Bread

Take Delight in Te Lord

Date: Dec. 1, 2015

Passage

Psalm 37:1-22  (ESV)

Daily Bread

Key Verse: 37:4

First, he will give you the desire of your heart (1-8). The wicked seem to prosper. But the believers must not fret or be angry at them. Rather, we must know that they will soon wither like grass in the field. The psalmist tells us how we should live. First, trust in the Lord and do good. Second, take delight in the Lord, for he will give us the desires of our heart. He alone satisfies our inmost being. Third, commit our way to the Lord, for he will make the righteous shine like the dawn. Fourth, be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him.

Second, the meek will inherit the land (9-10). Believers do not seem rough rather meek. They are often despised by the wicked. The wicked seem prosperous but they will soon perish. But the meek will inherit the land (Mt 5:5) and enjoy peace and prosperity. We will spend our days under the Lord's care and our inheritance will endure forever (15).

Prayer: Lord, I want to take delight in you alone. Please change my desire to yours and help me to put my hope in you.

One Word: the Lord gives us the desire of our heart.
