First, God puts a new song in our mouth (1-10). David realized that his time of deepest distress became the time of great grace when he waited on God and put his trust in him. When we know that the Lord lifts us from the pit of sin, our soul is renewed and filled with joy. He puts a new song in our mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. We no longer serve the Lord with meaningless sacrifices. When God's word is in our hearts, we desire to do his will (8). We are blessed to proclaim his saving acts and his love and mercy.
Second, many who seek you rejoice (11-17). We must continually pray for his love and faithfulness to protect us from all kinds of troubles and sins. We are too weak to defeat but when we pray, he comes quickly to help us. When we seek him in the time of need, he hears us and thinks of us. The Lord is my help and redeemer.
Prayer: Lord, I am in need of your mercy all the time. Thank you for your great salvation and for the new song you have put in my mouth. Help me to exalt your name.
