Blessed Are Those Who Have Regard for the Weak

Date: Dec. 6, 2015

Passage

Psalm 41:1-13  (ESV)

Daily Bread

Key Verse: 41:1

First, he who has regard for the weak (1-3). David experienced God as a good shepherd full of compassion who showed mercy when he was weak. So he also had regard for the weak beginning with the 400 distressed and became a shepherd king. He then was sure of God's deliverance in times of trouble; God would protect him and preserve his life. God would not give him over to his enemies. Even when he gets sick, the Lord will restore him from his illness.

Second, have mercy on me (4-13). When David got sick, his enemies said of him in malice imagining the worst of him, "When will he die and his name perish?" Even his close friend betrayed him. But David did not despair. He found the way of victory. He first repented of his sins asking God's mercy. He cried out to God with integrity. He then was sure that God would give him victory over all the enemies. He praised the God of Israel forever.

Prayer: Lord, let me have regard for the weak with the experiences of your healing and comforting hands when I was weak.

One Word: Have regard for the weak!
