2 Corinthians 5:11-21 (ESV)
Key Verse: 5:17
Frist, he died for all (11-15). In light of Christ's impending judgment, Paul and his co-workers feared the Lord. They shared the gospel with others. Paul lived transparently before God and hoped that the Corinthian Christians would see this. Paul was criticized for preaching the gospel but this did not stop him. He was compelled by Christ's love for sinners. Jesus died for all sinners, including us. If we have received new life in Christ, then we no longer live for ourselves but for Christ.
Second, the old has gone, the new is here (16-21). Paul had once viewed Jesus from a worldly viewpoint. But he was now a completely new person. This happened because Christ had reconciled him to God. God had also given to him the ministry of reconciliation. As Christ's ambassador, he implored people to be reconciled to God by accepting Jesus. Likewise we, who have been reconciled to God through Christ, are also Christ's ambassadors.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for reconciling us to God by your death and resurrection. Help me to share the gospel and reconcile others to you.
One Word: A new creation and Christ's ambassador
Acts 8:26-40
Key Verse: 8:35
