Exodus 28:1-30 (ESV)
Key Verse: 28:1
First, sacred garments for the priests (1-5). God chose Aaron and his children to serve God as priests. But they were weak sinners too. God made sacred garments to give them dignity and honor. This shows Jesus the high priest with dignity and honor. Now all believers are priests (1 Pet 2:9) too though they are weak sinners. For they are chosen to serve as royal priests clothed with Jesus' blood and his righteousness.
Second, the Ephod, the Breastpiece, Urim and Thumim (6-30). The priests are mediators between God and sinners. They wore the ephod and the breast pieces with the names of the 12 tribes. The priests must bear their names as precious jewels and bring their agonies before God as Jesus the good shepherd knew his sheep's name. The Urim (odd) and Thumim (even) were used to know God's decision for his people. Thus the priest must bring God's direction to the people while he brought the people to God.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for the high priest Jesus who has now made us royal priests and a holy nation too. Help us to bear all the names and burdens of our generation on our shoulders and go to you. May we bring God's instruction to needy people too.
One Word: We serve as royal priests!
Acts 8:26-40
Key Verse: 8:35
