Exodus 28:31-43 (ESV)
Key Verse: 28:36
First, 'Holy to the Lord' (31-38). The priest has to wear the robe of the ephod with gold bells around the hem. A rope is to be bound to his leg. When the bells sound, that shows God accepts him and his sacrifice. When they stop, it means the death of the priest because God is displeased with the priest and/or his sacrifice. Then the dead priest has to be pulled out by the rope. The priest also has to wear the turban with the plate of pure gold on his forehead with the engraving, "Holy to the Lord." This shows God would use the priest to make an unholy sacrifice holy. This shadows how God would accept the high priest Jesus' sacrifice as a holy one.
Second, the sash and undergarments (39-43). The sash implies the humble servantship and the readiness of the priests for the service of God. The priest had to wear undergarments to cover their nakedness in serving God.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for making us royal priests and a holy nation. Make us ready to serve you with holiness.
One Word: Ready to serve the Lord as holy and royal Priests
Acts 8:26-40
