Exodus 29:1-28 (ESV)
Key Verse: 29:1
First, ordain Aaron and his sons as the priests (1-9). For the ordination a young bull and two rams without defect and bread made without yeast were prepared. They had to be washed with water. Then they put on the sacred garments, the ephod with onyx stones and the breast piece. Then Aaron and his sons were ordained as God's priests.
Second, the sacrificial offerings (10-28). However, the ordination and sacred garments didn't make the priest consecrated. A sin offering was still necessary. For without the shedding of blood, there was no forgiveness of sins! The burnt offering symbolized his wholehearted service to God. The wave (peace) offering and fellowship offering were also necessary. Now all these things have been done more perfectly through Jesus' blood sacrifice. Whoever believes in Jesus can stand as a consecrated priest.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for forgiving all our sins by shedding your own blood so that we may be your royal priests and a holy nation.
One Word: Now serve God as his consecrated priest!
Acts 8:26-40
Key Verse: 8:35
