Daily Bread

Willing and Freewill Offerings

Date: Mar. 12, 2016

Passage

Exodus 35:1-29  (ESV)

Daily Bread

Key Verse: 35:29

First, keep the Sabbath holy (1-3). God relented and said that his presence would go with the Israelites through Moses' intercessory prayers. Now Moses assembled people to make a tabernacle for God. They needed to work hard for this task. Yet God wanted them to take rest on the Sabbath to make it holy. No matter how busy we may become, worshiping God must take our first place.

Second, an offering acceptable for the Lord (4-29). Now all the Israelite men and women willingly brought freewill offerings for all the necessary work: brooches, earrings, rings, ornaments, blue, purple or scarlet yarn of fine linen, goat hair, acacia wood, onyx, gems for the ephods, spices and other oil. All the skilled workers offered their time and skills. How beautiful it is to offer to God out of thanksgiving and joyful hearts!

Prayer: Lord, let me worship you even ahead of God's work. Let me joyfully and willingly give my material, time and skills to thank you. Still nothing can match with what the Lord has done, to give his one and only son to forgive our sins.

One Word: Offer willingly out of deep thanks to God
