Exodus 37:1-29 (ESV)
Key Verse: 37:6
First, the ark and atonement seat (1-9).The ark is made of thorny acacia wood. It is overlaid with pure gold. There is the atonement cover on it. The two cherubs protect the ark. The tablet of the Ten Commandments was in it. The ark is placed inside of the Most Holy Place. The ark symbolizes Jesus in many ways. Jesus wore the thorny crown, though he was the King of kings. He is the word of God. In Jesus there is atonement for our sins.
Second, the Table, the Lampstand and the Altar of Incense (10-29). The bread and the wine on the Table represent Jesus' flesh and his blood. God sustains us through Jesus and we have fellowship with God. The lamps that burned all night represented God who never sleeps but cares for us. It represents also Jesus as the light as well as the word of God that shines our path. The altar of incense represents the intercessory prayers of Jesus.
Prayer: Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for becoming our ark, bread, lamp and our mediator before God.
One Word: Jesus, the ark of God
