Exodus 38:1-31 (ESV)
Key Verse: 38:2
First, build the altar of burnt offering (1-20). The altar of bronze was for the burnt offerings. All are sinners. The wages of sin is death. All sinners have to die. But God opened a way to be forgiven through the sacrifice on the altar of burnt offering; No shedding of blood, no atonement. This is the shadow of Jesus, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. Whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. The wash basin and the door of the courtyard all represent Jesus who washes our sins. Jesus is the door to God.
Second, the materials used were counted exactly (21-31). Bezalel and Oholiab made everything using gold, silver, bronze, yarn and linen as God commanded. Each and every one of all the Israelites above 20 participated in the offerings. The priests maintained the detailed record of all the materials as Moses commanded.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for shedding your blood on the cross for our sins as a burnt offering.
One Word: Jesus, our sacrificial offering
Acts 8:26-40
