Daily Bread

Thanks Be to God

Date: Apr. 24, 2016

Passage

2 Corinthians 9:1-15  (ESV)

Daily Bread

Key Verse: 9:15

First, give generously (1-11). Paul had boasted about the eagerness and enthusiasm the churches in Achaia had expressed. Now he urged them to finish with generosity. God loves those who discern his overflowing blessings and give cheerfully as a result. It is God who blesses, and he is able to supply our every need and increases his blessing in us in every way. We can give generously, cheerfully and thankfully when we are ever mindful of God the giver.

Second, thanks be to God (12-15). Paul also saw that the Corinthians' generous gift would be used to bring many others to give thanks and praises to God. Their generosity would be a testimony to the surpassing grace of God who gave us an indescribable gift-eternal salvation in the gospel of Christ. This is truly the goal of offering, to bring this world to thank God for such an indescribable gift.

Prayer: Prayer: Lord, thanks and praises be to you for the indescribable gift. Help me to be generous, and use me to bring others to praise you.

One Word: God's indescribable gift
