Leviticus 9:1-24 (ESV)
Key Verse: 9:23
And Moses and Aaron went into the tent of meeting, and when they came out they blessed the people, and the glory of the LORD appeared to all the people.
First, so the glory of the Lord may appear (1-6). This was the first worship service after the priests were consecrated. Offerings were made first for the priests, then for the people. The sin offering for forgiveness was first. The burnt offering for total surrender was next. The fellowship and grain offering for communion with God was last. The Lord was going to appear to them.
Second, the glory of the Lord appeared (7-24). Aaron and his son offered the sin and burnt offerings for themselves in the prescribed way. Then they offered the sin, burnt and fellowship offerings for the people as prescribed. Aaron lifted his hands and blessed the people. Moses and Aaron went into the tent of meeting, came out, blessed the people, and the glory of the Lord appeared to them all. Fire from the Lord consumed the burnt offering. The people were so privileged to see it. They shouted for joy and fell facedown. The glory of the Lord was also revealed in Jesus Christ (Jn 1:14).
Prayer: Praise and thanks be to the Lord, who has shown us his glory!
One Word: The glory of the Lord has appeared
