1. Some much-needed encouragement (15-18)
As a hunted fugitive, with no stability in his earthly life, David could easily grow weary and discouraged. At the time of his need, God sent David's friend Jonathan to help him-not with emotional sympathy, but with God's promise. Jonathan assured David that God would fulfill his promise to make David king, and would not let him fall into Saul's hands. David and Jonathan renewed their covenant before the Lord.
2. David is rescued again (19-29)
The Ziphites betrayed David, sending information to Saul. A life-or-death chase followed. At one point, Saul's and David's armies were on opposite sides of the same mountain. At the last moment, Saul was called away by news of a Philistine raid. The Lord made a way for David to escape every time.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for friends who help me find strength in you. Please use me as an encourager as well.
One Word: Strengthen each other in the Lord
