1 Corinthians 7:1-24 (ESV)
Key Verse: 7:17
First, marriage (1-16). Marriage is an institution created by God for his purpose. It is his gift. At the same time, Paul said it is good not to marry. So Paul encouraged those who were unmarried to honor God in that position as well. In all things, whether married or not, Paul encouraged the Corinthian believers to seek God is holy, who is ruling all things to reconcile, sanctify and save people, and calls us to serve his glorious purpose.
Second, stay where God put you (17-24). Not only in marriage, but in all things of this life Paul commanded the Christians in Corinth to remain in God's calling. How easy it is to become a slave to the desire for a better life in the world and lose sight of our calling as those bought at a price. God calls us to serve him in our place and obey his word and his commands. He is our life.
Prayer: Lord, you bought me at a price. Help me to see my situation as God's gift and blessing. Make me a servant of your calling.
One Word: Live in God's calling
Acts 8:26-40
